About The Shrine

The Shrine of All Saints collection contains the relics of more than 3,200 unique saints and is the second largest such collection outside the Vatican.

History

The Shrine is housed in St. Martha of Bethany Church in Morton Grove, Illinois, which was founded in 1919. Since July 1, 2022, St. Martha of Bethany united with St. Isaac Jogues to form the All Saints Parish.

On November 1, 2015, Cardinal Blase Cupich of Chicago declared Shrine of All Saints a diocesan shrine. In a 12-month period, more than 1,800 pilgrims and visitors from around the world take part in guided tours.

The collection is curated by Fr. Dennis O'Neill.

The relics were collected by and are curated by Fr. Dennis O'Neill, pastor emeritus of St. Martha of Bethany Church after 20 years of meritorious service. Ordained in 1972, he has a Master's in Divinity and a licentiate in theology from St. Mary of the Lake University and a bachelor's in English literature from Niles College Seminary at the Loyola University.

He started collecting relics as a teen, and later rescued relics from closed churches and monasteries in Europe. Fr. Dennis and the Shrine have been featured by the Archdiocese of Chicago and local, national, and international media (see Media Coverage).

His book Relics In the Shrine of All Saints at St. Martha of Bethany Church in Morton Grove, Illinois is available at our Gift Shop and on Amazon. See also: Articles by Fr. Dennis.

Mary's Spirituality Gift Shop

Formerly known as the Spirituality Library, the gift shop is open after tours and on weekends, before and after the scheduled Masses. We carry a wide variety of informational and prayer cards for many saints, accompanying medals for patron saints of various professions, as well as prayer cards to the special saints for various sicknesses.

Available at the Gift Shop is an illustrated survey of the relics at the Shrine by Fr. Dennis O'Neill in the form of a book. It explains what the relics are and what place they have in the spirituality of the Church.  It also recounts the people who preserved these relics through the centuries.
